De Grisogono and Christie's Reveal 01

De Grisogono and Christie’s Reveal A Record-Breaking 163-Carat Diamond

Swiss gem house De Grisogono is known for its otherworldly creations that are the epitome of class and bespoke craftsmanship. Its latest offering, which took a whole team of experienced artisans 1,700 hours over 11 months sets a new standard in the world of fine jewellery. “4 de Fevrio,” is a stunning 163.4-carat D colour flawless diamond that will be auctioned on November 14 at Christie’s Magnificent Jewels sale in Geneva. This will be the largest gem of its kind to ever make it to the legendary auction house and one that is sure to attract a lot of attention from wealthy buyers.

De Grisogono and Christie's Reveal

It was last year that De Grisogono enlisted their team of experts to begin the analysis of the gem’s 404-carat rough. The precious stone was unearthed in eastern Angola’s Lulo mine in February of 2016.  After months of study, it was Ben Green, a veteran 50-year diamond cleaver, who made the first cut in June of last year. In the months that followed, De Grisogono’s team managed to painstakingly angle each facet by laser and by hand. Fitting this record-breaking stone into a wearable piece of jewellery proved to be one of the more challenging parts of putting together this emblematic piece.

De Grisogono and Christie's Reveal

De Grisgono have expressed their fascination with the unlikely find, which presented the rare opportunity for their craftsmen to work with a 163.41 carat diamond of this quality. The design has been kept minimal and stylistically clean to ensure it doesn’t overwhelm the enormous diamond. A dual colour scheme in green and silver complement the clear brilliance of the centre stone and blend in a composition of balance and elegance. A touch of creativity can be noticed in the asymmetrical arrangement with 18 emerald-cut diamonds on one side, rows of deep green, and the pear-shaped emeralds on the opposing side.

The price for this extraordinary piece is yet to be announced by Christie’s.

Aventador S watch 04

Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini team up on Excalibur Aventador S watches

The new partnership between Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s team and renowned designer Roger Dubuis is coming at the right time. The two brands have their creative vision perfectly aligned in terms of personality, design language, and clientele, so naturally the result of their collaboration will appeal to a large number of wealthy buyers.

Taking things further, they have developed something that the horology world does not see every day. The new Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S Strap Details is a superior watch whose signature movement’s layout draws inspiration from the engine bay of the Aventador S. Thanks to close work with Lamborghini’s design team has allowed the artisans to capture this correctly.

Aventador S watch

There will be two models of the new watch – each released in a limited addition, making them more exclusive than the iconic car that inspired them. In a nod to Lamborghini’s superior technical composition, Roger Dubuis used Lamborghini’s award-winning carbon composite known as C-SMC carbon to create a thin “cover plate” detail over the watch’s power reserve indication. The automotive composite was of significant interest the brand’s design team who usually relies on Swiss suppliers for their materials.

Aventador S watch

All pieces both feature multilayer carbon cases, and are powered by an all-new double balance hand-wound caliber RD103SQ, which runs at 4Hz and offers a power reserve of 40-hours. The new caliber can display both hours and minutes, power reserve, and a dead-beat seconds indication. This is a first in the brand’s recent history. Poinçon de Genève finishing completes the composition.

Aventador S watch

There are minute differences between the two new Aventador S models; EX613 with yellow accents will be limited to 88 pieces with a retail price of $185,000, whereas the EX624—with orange accents and aforementioned carbon cover plate—will be limited to only 8 pieces priced at $205,000 each.

A $110 million penthouse Manhattan’s iconic Woolworth Building

A $110 million penthouse inside the celebrated Woolworth Building in New York has gone on sale. The property is unique not only for its record-breaking price tag and panoramic views of the iconic Manhattan skyline, but for the unique features of the historic landmark as well.

The top floor flat easily eclipses the previous record for a penthouse in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighbourhood, which was sold for $50.9 million in 2014. The 9,710 square feet apartment boasts 24-foot ceilings, a private lift and spans not two, but five floors.

Manhattan's iconic Woolworth Building

The interiors have been left “raw”, which gives the buyer full creative freedom in deciding how many bedrooms and bathrooms they would like to have. Naturally, the services of one of the many renowned interior design firms across New York would come in handy to realize the full potential of this piece of real estate paradise.

Woolworth-gym

Situated close to Wall Street and Ground Zero, the historically significant building sits on a site bought by discount shop tycoon Frank Winfield Woolworth.

It boasts its own private air observatory, 727 feet above the city, as well as a private swimming pool in the basement that is accessible only to residents of the building.

The steel and terracotta structure is built in neo-Gothic style, making it a national historic landmark, created by architect Cass Gilbert.  When it was completed in 1913, it was the world’s tallest building – a title it held for 70 years.

Woolworth-pool

The penthouse has a total of 125 windows and was first put on the market in 2014, but no buyers emerged.

Some of the many amenities the building has include a health club and spa with a pool, sauna and a hot tub, a wine cellar, a tasting room — and personal mail delivery. This is one of the five most iconic buildings in the world, whose architecture and significance are impossible to replicate.

Porsche unveils its first ever mega yacht

After conquering the luxury car market, automobile giant Porsche has turned its attention towards the mega yacht segment catering to the ultra-rich. Its first endeavour in that direction has produced a 115-foot hybrid vessel called the GTT 115 Super Yacht.

Studio F. A. Porsche collaborated with Monaco-based ship builder Dynamiq to create this high-performance yacht for crossing the Atlantic in style. Inspired by the brand’s flagship GTT model, the spectacular vessel will set the buyer back $16 million.

Porsche mega yacht01

After years of research and design collaborations, Porsche presents a top notch boat with fluid lines, side contours, and balanced proportions that its makers say “recall the drop-shaped, overstretched surfaces of the Porsche 911.”

Inside and outside, the yacht is the epitome of luxury. There is a spacious ‘saloon’ and meeting area – perfect for entertaining guests with panoramic views of the surrounding ocean thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The interior styling has been entrusted to Italian fashion house Minotti and features wood flooring, marble countertops, carbon fibre detailing and leather furniture finishes.

And if that’s not enough, a spa pool on the rear deck and al fresco dining area on the outside complete the spectacular selection of features. The yacht can be fitted with three or four cabins down below.

Porsche’s design company, Studio F.A. Porsche has launched its very own super-yacht which will set owners back £12million and come complete with a spa pool, al-fresco dining area and space for up to four guests below decks.

The stunning craft was launched at Viareggio, in Italy, and will make its appearance at the Monaco Yacht Show in September.

Just seven yachts will be made, guaranteeing the owners a unique slice of boating history. It was designed for ‘car lovers and forward-thinking yacht owners who appreciate the advantages of speed, style and our philosophy of intelligent performance.’

Interior styling was taken care of by Italian design-house Minotti, and features carbon fibre detailing, marble counter-tops, and fine leather finishes. A pair of 1,650hp engines provides a top speed of 21 knots, while its hybrid engines give a range of 3,400 nautical miles.

Swarovski01

Swarovski’s Home Collection

Each design collaboration that Swarovski announces tends to pair the famous jeweller with another household name in the art world. Last year, the preeminent Austrian crystal brand debuted Atelier Swarovski Home, an exclusive line of home accessories co-authored by design visionaries like Ron Arad, Daniel Libeskind, and late architect Zaha Hadid.

Swarovski

The newest additions to the collection continue to push the material into new territory, with work from established and emerging designers—Tomás Alonso, Aldo Bakker, and Barbara Barry—who cut decorative crystalline forms with just enough functionality. Some of the stylish items are available for presale but have to be ordered in advance as interest is running high.

Icelandic-German design duo Studio Brynjar & Veronika have contributed a range of prismatic paperweights. Made of rods of crystal in contrasting hues, the paperweights cast vibrant reflections. Colour also features in Tomás Alonso’s trays, which are an addition to his Atelier Swarovski Home Prism range.

Swarovski

American designer Greg Lynn’s offering is a line of trays and cups, which juxtapose turned wood with gems made from cut crystal. They make a perfect addition to those lucky enough to have a bar at home. The Atelier Swarovski Home range addresses a global interest and customer demand for design objects within the home. Since its debut collection of colour-hatched bowls by Raw Edges and a crystal and metal centrepiece designed by the late Zaha Hadid, the line has grown exponentially to include a whole plethora of eye-catching items.

Swarovski

A worthwhile mention is the furniture by Marni, which is woven using a traditional Colombian technique, and a collection of surreal rugs designed by Jamie Hayón for Nanimarquina for those who want a bit of ethnic allure introduced in their home.

The set of modular candle holders by American designer Barbara Barry pair crystal bases in various colours with brass centrepieces and are designed to bring “intimate warmth” into the home.

This is a unique opportunity to marvel the Far Niente 125-year-old stone estate building, sitting under cork oak trees planted by the original owner in the late 1800s.

Bentley

Bentley Continental GT Convertible Inspired by a Princess Yacht

Bentley is a brand iconic on its own, but when it decides to combine its design talent and state-of-the-art expertise in automobile making with another signature company – the result is a limited-edition convertible with a luxurious, nautical feel.

Bentley 02

The new Bentley Continental GT Convertible Galene Edition is scheduled to make its public debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival. The limited-edition Galene is after the Greek Goddess of calm seas, owns its sleek design by Mulliner and Princess Yachts. The elegant white Bentley is a testament to the successful collaboration of two pinnacle brands share collective design talents.

Mulliner, Bentley’s bespoke commissioning division, worked with Princess Design Studio to create Galene. The convertible was inspired by Princess Yachts’ M-Series superyachts. The white exterior boasts a sequin-blue stripe on its brightwork to mimic a Princess hull’s glistening water line. The darkened front and rear lights resemble the tinted windows on its superyachts and the dark-blue hood completes its sporty, oceangoing look.

Bentley 03

The nautical design cues can also be seen throughout Galene’s interior. Mulliner went with an entirely new material finish, a pinstriped walnut veneer, to give the sense of being surrounded by teak decks. The carmaker has worked with famous artist Jaume Vilardell to illustrate the interior fascia panels with a bespoke drawing of a Princess yacht, along with the coordinates of its shipyard in Plymouth. There are hand-stitched seats and door panels, reaching the same quality found on the Princess M series to provide an elegant finish to the exterior.

Bentley 01

The collaboration between these two iconic British brands is quite fitting as both are interested in exploring new possibilities in their target segments. Princess and Bentley Motorsport announced a three-year sponsorship deal that brings the worlds of yachting and motor racing together at racing events where Bentley’s Continental GT3 will be competing.
