The watch measures in at 39.5mm, so the design is slim, sleek, and classy. The style is reminiscent of the 1950’s and 1960’s Seamasters, yet with a modern twist, and today’s technology. The Omega logo appears prominently in red on the dial, printed in enamel. The hour hand reaches microscopically right to the end very of the indices. An assistant holds a 102.34 carat white diamond at Sotheby's auction house in London

Exceptionally Rare 102-Carat White Diamond is Now for Sale

International auction house Sotheby’s has presented the world’s rarest and most valuable white diamond in London. The flawless gem is the only known round brilliant-cut diamond over 100 carats with the highest cut, color and clarity grades from the Gemological Institute of America.

In addition to the high number of carats, the stone is also flawless in colour, clarity and cut – something that even by the standards of the Gemological Institute Of America (G.I.A.) is considered truly exceptional. The auction house has made the spectacular gem available for private purchase through the Sotheby’s Diamonds salon on New Bond Street. As a final sale price, the auction house expects figures to top $30 million-which is the current auction record for a white diamond, set back in 2013 at a sale by Sotheby’s Hong Kong.

Back then, the 163-carat flawless emerald stone part of a De Grisogono necklace sold for $33.7 million in Geneva. The emerald is now on display at Sotheby’s London showroom, and about 61 carats smaller than the one which now holds the title of the world’s most expensive D-Flawless diamond.

With its outstanding weight, its ideal colour, clarity and cut, it is a masterpiece of nature brought to life by human hand. It far surpasses the gems the famous auction house has sold before, most notably, the ones exhibited at the Magnificent Jewels auction in New York, where the standout piece was a spectacular 34-carat emerald ring by Harry Winston called the Stotesbury Emerald (which sold for close to $1.2 million). The unique object d’art once belonged to American socialite and jewelry enthusiast, Eva Stotesbury.

Originally part of a 425-carat rough sourced from a mine in Botswana by De Beers, the exceptional 102.34 carat white diamond—it is considered the largest and purest example ever unearthed, and the rarest white diamond ever to come to market.
