The Ferrari Dino 246 GTS was produced in limited numbers in 1974, in fact, only 313 models were produced. The GTS Spyder is even more rare, as only about 1,200 were produced since the Dino started production, eventually ceasing in the 1970s. The car is a fine example of Italian design and performance. It has consistently placed among the best sports cars of the 1970’s, and the top ten Ferraris of all time. The Ferrari Dino is renowned for its beautiful curves and groundbreaking design.
The motor is a 2418 cc engine, with a 65-degree, dual-overhead-camshaft design. This features a 9.0:1 compression ratio, and three Weber 2 barrel downdraft carburetors. The Dino’s 2.4 L V6 has since been utilised in other sports cars after initially being used in the Dino. The engine weighs 2,426 lb (1,100 kg), and the body is made of steel. This car was ordered in the extremely rare, Viola Metallizzato, and delivered near the end of production. Every nut, bolt and part of this car has been meticulously restored to its original glory, so the car will run like it is just off the production line! The car is rear wheel drive, the exterior colour is metallic purple, while the interior is jet black. The gearbox has a five-speed manual transmission which is a pleasure to use, as the gear changes are smooth, and give full control to the driver.
Few sports cars can lay claim to such a noble heritage. The Ferrari Dino is a beautiful example of a classic 1970s sports car, created by one of the most renowned car brands in the world. The asking price is $449,865, and there has been nothing like it in production since the mid seventies. Owning this classic car would be a dream come true, and a slice of Ferrari history. The value can only increase!
