I’m a big fan of minute repeaters. I’m not so sure I’d like the attention the chiming would bring but the engineering behind it is totally awesome. This particular piece is a combination of a flying tourbillion and a minute repeater.
It is available in either rose gold or platinum, with the latter material beeing the “loudest”. The grade 5 titanium produce a sound level of 68 (!!) decibels, compared to the rose gold, which produces 63.
The entire watch has been developed and produced in-house by Cartier and it took them about 4 years. 447 individual pieces are required to compose the caliber 9402 MC, which is manually wound.
Normally minute repeaters are slide-activated, however, the Rotonde the Cartier is activated through the push of a button.
