The unveiling of Ferrari’s new model is considered to be one of the most powerful sports vehicles to date. Only a limited number of 799 units of the visually striking and technically superior F12 Berlinetta will be built and sold to selected customers.
With this model the brand pays homage to the famous Tour de France and its heritage as well as Ferrari’s own legacy with the winning performance of the 1956 250 GT Berlinetta. Key factors in the new model that have received special attention are engine, aerodynamics and vehicle dynamics. And the end result is simply spectacular.
The new model uses a 6.3-liter V12 engine that was derived from the original F12 Berlinetta and delivers 40hp more than its predecessor. Among other features is the improved stability at high speed – courtesy of the impressive vehicle dynamic control systems. In terms of performance and acceleration, the F12 is able to go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds. A new generation system incorporates Extreme Design one-piece brake calipers that can bring the car to a complete stop from 100-0 km/h in just 30.5 meters.
6 percent shorter gear ratios are observed in the specific version of the F1 DCT as well as 30% faster upshifts and 40% faster downshifts. The aerodynamic efficiency figure of the original F12 is almost doubled to 1.6.
All bodywork panels point to the new Berlinetta being a superior model in terms of engineering, performance and aerodynamics. Its lighter construction and wider front give it an appealing and aggressive appearance. The cockpit is comfortable and driver-focused with patterned aluminum for the floor, single carbon-fiber shell doors and satellite pods.
Ferrari is yet to disclose any details regarding price and sale date, but the new vehicle has already generated a lot of interest from prospective buyers.
