Ford unveiled an all-new GT supercar at the Detroit show that sets new standards of innovation, engineering and performance. The sleek model is set to become Ferrari’s most serious competitor for peak performance.
The car is designed by Scot Moray Callum, younger brother of Jaguar design director Ian, and features upwardly swinging scissor doors, 20’ alloy wheels and raised twin exhausts. It also boasts the most powerful EcoBoost production engine yet, which is a new twin-turbocharged Ford EcoBoost V6 with more than 600 horsepower.
The all-new GT is an ultra-high-performance supercar that serves as a technology showcase for performance through EcoBoost®, advances in light-weighting, aerodynamics and an ultra-efficient design. Ford will begin production of the model next year with the car hitting stores in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Ford GT race cars at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.
With innovation being at the core of the company, the new GT is the ultimate execution of elite engineering and unmatched performance. Making extensive use of lightweight materials such as carbon fibre aend aluminium – the model boasts improved acceleration and handling with higher efficiency. In fact – the use of the lighter materials – has significantly improved all of the vehicle’s capabilities – from acceleration and handling to braking and safety all the while dramatically reducing weight.
Its form is just as impressive with the tear-drop shape to its aircraft-inspired fuselage and curved windshield – designed to minimize drag and optimize downforce. In addition all surfaces on the GT are functionally crafted to manage airflow and include fully active aerodynamic components to improve stability, handling and breaking. The F1-style wheel features all necessary driver controls, allowing for uncluttered access to the transmission paddle-shift controls.
A configurable digital display provides a wealth of driver-focuseddata. Base price for the model is announced at $400,000!
