Luxury French bike manufacturer Midual was originally formed in 1992 by entrepreneur Oliver Midy and best known for introducing a 875cc roadster concept in 1999. Midual’s new Type 1 takes its place among the world’s most expensive motorcycles with a price tag of US$185,000.
This stunning two-wheeler goes into production in 2016, with 35 units scheduled to roll out of a factory 300 km southwest of Paris. The first motorcycles have already been ordered! Buyers will be able to choose between more than 45 types of leather, 25 sand casting treatments which can be applied even to the engine parts and plus different types of hardware finishing (from a brushed effect to a polished or patina’d look).
Midual Type 1 is powered by 1036 cc flat-twin engine pumping out 106hp that’s paired with a 6-speed transmission with a multi-plate clutch and an electric starter. It features an instrumental panel with several analog gauges on the top of the fuel tank and the 17-inch wire-spoke wheels in Michelin tires, with a 120-70 tire up front and a 180/55 at the rear.
The motorcycle has been for a long time in the making but the end result is a real piece of art. The inspiration came from a classic European cars and bikes from the ’30s and ’50s. Mindy designed the bike to be completely adorable to the very last detail.
