The ultimate limited-edition anniversary model has been released by Porsche 40 years after the iconic 911 Turbo hit the market. Apart from turning into the standard against all sports cars are measured against, Porsche has another decided advantage – the sleek design of its coupés and unmatched luxury of the interior.
This new edition features a patriotic Union Flag design on the storage box in addition to black leather seats, and Guards Red stitching. As part of the £150,237 purchase price every buyer receives a personalized cover and a unique photo book detailing the creation process of the car. Technically – Porsche have decided to stick with the original 3.8-litre, flat-six turbocharged engine that is infamous for its blistering acceleration and “turbo lag”. The 560 horsepower are distributed to all four wheels thanks to Porsche’s seven-speed, dual-clutch PDK transmission.
The Turbo S GB Edition sports impressive safety features such as rear-wheel steering and active aerodynamics that make it more stable and manageable on the road.
On the design front it’s nice to see the brand has retained its classic sleek shape with gloss-black wheels, rear spoilers, mirrors and door handles in a classic 70’s style. Special carbon sill guards and a carbon interior trim package contribute to the classic appeal of the model. Available only to UK buyers only 40 cars will be manufactured in a selected choice of colours – GT Silver, white or Guards Red.
While the form, the lines and the conceptual design bare the true 911 identity, the new Turbo S GB Edition boasts unique proportions that place it in a league of its own. The wings have been redesigned to be higher than the lid and the interior has been modelled with close consideration of the driver’s comfort. The powerful 3.8 litre engine allows for a 0 to 100 acceleration for the impressive 3.1 seconds.
