Piecha AMG GT-RSR

The $265,000 Piecha AMG GT-RSR

Famous for its use as Formula 1’s present safety car, the Mercedes-AMG GT S has been revamped and introduced as the Piecha AMG GT-RSR. The German tuning company has customized the Mercedes-AMG coupe with enhancements that improve the output as well as the airflow around it.

A modification specialist’s performance module has been developed and fitted (produced in partnership with Performmaster) to boost Mercedes-AMG’s twin-turbocharged V-8 engine with an additional 109 hp and 139 ft lbs of torque. The car is now capable of releasing 612 horses and 619 ft lbs of torque; it has achieved acceleration from zero to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph.

The exterior has also undergone a few modifications that improve the aerodynamics of the car.  One of the more noticeable accents to the complement body are the distinctly articulated side skirts (with five LEDs for illumination upon entry and exit). Carbon fibre has been used not to compromise the lightweight structure of the model. Front apron’s splitters, a diffusor (replacing the original underfloor panels), and a rear spoiler (besides the production model’s retractable braking spoiler) are amongst other additions that give the model its aggressive character. The posterior has also been upgraded with four 90 mm tailpipes that are chrome-plated and double-walled. Piecha comes with a more fine-tuned driving experience thanks to supplementing the existing electronic suspension with coilovers and addition of Yokohama’s Advan Sport V105 tires.

Priced over $265,000, only 50 examples of the special edition Piecha AMG GT-RSR will be produced and buyers need to put their names on a waiting list. The modification package, however, is also available for existing GT and GT S models.
